Global quantitative investment firm is seeking a Contracts Counsel to join a talented, technology-focused, and data-driven team. This role will report to the Global Legal Counsel and will be based in London or New York City. This is a multifaceted role focusing primarily on corporate governance, IP, employment, and data protection in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment where there will be numerous opportunities to interface with external counsel, teams in various jurisdictions, as well as senior management. The attorney in this role will review, draft, and negotiate legal contracts for the firm including NDAs, data license agreements, software license agreements, consultancy agreements, and more. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience as a contracts counsel, ideally with exposure to the alternative data space in quantitative investment firms. The candidate should also have experience reviewing IP and data protection issues in commercial contracts. This lawyer will be joining a small and growing team, and responsibilities will include conducting commercial real estate closings and addressing closing-related issues; preparing, reviewing and negotiating commercial loan documents; reviewing and negotiating title and surveys; handling real estate and closing-related legal issues, including transfers of titles and deeds, construction and mortgage concerns, and zoning and environmental issues; and providing general legal advice related to real estate matters. Ideal candidates will have 1+ years of transactional real estate experience. Experience with “hard money lending,” construction lending, and/or sales of loan portfolios and loan workouts is a plus, as is some familiarity with foreclosures.
